Brett Ratner OUT as Producer of the 84th Academy Awards

It has just been reported via Twitter – I don’t have the details yet but this is what’s being reported!

I think it’s the right decision, obviously, for many reasons, not the least of which was his willingness to throw around the word “fag.” There are so many better ways to have said that.  But it really was a poor fit from the beginning and I personally have no idea what they were thinking.  Their reputation is worth more than even ratings, yes, ratings.  Ratner does what he does well.  But hands off the Oscars, thank you.

I was going to write a longer piece about the the use of the word “fag” the way Ratner used it.  I wanted to talk mostly about the rise of suicides among gay teens who are bullied at school. But instead, I leave you with this, Dan Savage – it gets better.  And guess what, it does.
