Every hacker needs a vacation! When I discovered that the second season of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant would primarily be moving to the west coast (except for, you know, some globe-trotting to Iceland), I was wondering how the regular characters would fit into the mix. Luckily for us, Deniz Akdeniz’s Max has family in town. Our dependable heartthrob hacker isn’t going anywhere, and he gets to do more than click clack on the keyboard.
When Max and Annie (Zosia Mamet) visit Cassie across the country, Max has a lot of plans. He wants to introduce his new fiancée to his parents, and he wants to get a feel for the city in case they decide to move there. Not only does Annie seem reluctant to solidify any of Max’s plans, but there’s, you know, the entire plot to frame Cassie for international espionage and multiple murder. Needless to say, Max has his hands full when Annie removes her engagement ring and he’s getting tased by a duo of paramours.
Akdeniz was eager to jump into something more physical in season two (in the freshman outing, he only got hit by a car), and he seems surprised by so many people swooning over his character. In addition to his romantic woes, I thought it was fun that Max seems obsessed with Cassie’s boyfriend, Marco, and he talked about being involved with the sleeper hit, The Cleaning Lady.
If you are mad for Max and Annie, maybe HBO will spin them off for their own Los Angeles based detective agency?
The Flight Attendant is streaming now on HBO Max.
