Thanks to Craig Kennedy at Living in Cinema for tipping us to the first three minutes of Tetro. The screen size of this youtube clip limits the sense of surreal clarity in the cinematography, so if you want to relish it in full HD glory, you can find various high-def formats to stream or download at Apple trailers.
I really like the overall tone of foreboding. An ominous message that warns “Wind Sweeps the Road. You Can Not Go Back,” and handwriting on the wall that pleads “no sueltes la soga que me ata a tu alma.” (“Don’t let go of the rope that ties me to your soul.”) (?) Reminds me a lot of the opening of A Streetcar Named Desire, only more unsettling.
