Julie & Julia was the 2009 film starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Directed by Nora Ephron, the film intertwined two stories, Julia Child, the famous culinary chef and how she came to be, Streep played Child in the film. Adams played Julie Powell, an office worker who decided to start a blog where she vowed to cook her way through Julia Child’s cookbook, Mastering the Art Of French Cooking. She wanted to cook all 524 recipes in a year.
Both actresses won rave reviews for their respective roles, however, an editor has decided to to chop all the Amy Adams scenes out of the film, leaving in just the Streep scenes. That’s right, Adam Goldman has reduced the film to an hour long, that’s how long Streep appears in the movie for. The film is reduced to a brand new cut, all about Julia Child cooking her way through France.
Enjoy the cut below.
What do you think of the new edit, yay or nay?
All I’m seeing is a rather decorative slide with the caption “Sorry – This video does not exist.” Is this one of those only-in-the-USA things? (I’m in Canada.)
I could watch Interstellar without the Matt Damon part.
Eh, I enjoyed enough of the Adams scenes that I dont mind her subplot in Julie & Julia. That said, Im fascinated to take a look at this hour version 🙂
Sounds like Amy’s career consists in doing wonders with crappy parts. Could be why she has reaped so many Oscar noms but never wins it. Could she finally have found the perfect part to unlock the gold with Margaret Keane in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes? I sure hope so?
Julie Powell is just so unsavory. She does come off like she just did it as a stunt, and while I think the movie did a lot to try and fix that, the Meryl parts shine so much because Julia is passionate in a way that Julie isn’t. Amy Adams did a really good job portraying Julie Powell and I think that’s the problem. Here’s to hoping for some Julia footage to come available and we can get a fuller “& Julia” version.
As much as I love Amy Adams (who was completely wasted in AH and under appreciated in Her) her part was in J&J was so stagnant, even though she did a good job. The writing was formulaic.
