JAY SCOTT PRIZE FOR AN EMERGING ARTIST
Albert Shin, director of “In Her Place”
Any prize for best Canadian film?
So, French is now a foreign-language in Canada?
Tom Hardy! Yes! Can he possibly get an Oscar nod without the GG or SAG nomination? I hope so!
Great to see Princess Kaguya get some love!
Birdman is more divisive than I ever figured. Some groups love it, and others don’t even recognize it at all.
Wow, John Wick second best first feature of the year? That was unexpected.
Antoinette, though it’s not a whole lot Edward Norton was runner-up for supporting actor. I’m just happy to see a group show some love, even in runner-up form, to Inherent Vice.
I wish all Critics groups were required to announce their winners on the same day/time so we would see how much of their choice is affected by others!
I wonder if some groups try to go with the flow not to be left behind when Oscar nominations are announced. Thinking “see what we awarded is closely aligned with the rest”.
And some others, groups for high need for uniqueness, may do the opposite: “We are so cool that we will pick those that we know wont be picked by others!”
I
I thought it was odd that BIRDMAN didn’t show up anywhere. That’s all.
They’re still upset that BIRDMAN didn’t play TIFF. Get over it, dear Toronto film critics, don’t be so childish.
Why should every critics’ association like the same actors and films? It makes less sense for all of them to single out the same old, same old as if they were all robots filling out a predetermined group of people and films. There were hundreds of films released in 2014! So maybe some people didn’t think Michael Keaton gave the greatest performance ever. (I’m not saying he didn’t.)
*throw
Extremely happy for Tom Hardy winning again! 😀
But I wouldn’t through Michael Keaton under the bus. What happened there? Not even a runner-up. Did they hate BIRDMAN?
