TV News: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Renewed, ‘Ground Floor’ Grounded, ‘Simpsons’ Restored to 4:3

Renewals/Cancellations

Beauty and the Beast. Even before its May 21 third season premiere, CW has renewed the People’s Choice Award-winning fantasy-drama starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan for a fourth season despite the relatively low ratings. Assuming Season 4 is an additional 13 episodes like Season 3, that would bring the series’ episode total to 70. People who pay attention to this kind of thing set at 88 the “ideal minimum” of episodes for a show to be most profitably syndicated. Show that get close to that number are more likely to receive an additional season so perhaps that bodes well for an eventual Season 5 of Beast. (Wrap)

Ground Floor. The workplace comedy that was unofficially cancelled earlier this month has now been officially cancelled by TBS after two seasons. (THR)

Random Notes

The Simpsons. Seasons 1-7 of the long running animated favorite are now available on Simpsons World in the proper 4:3 aspect ratio. If you don’t know what that means, then you probably don’t care that you were watching them wrong on FXX in the first place so disregard this message. If you’re a Simpsons purist, then: hurray!
