‘Bloodline’ Flows for a Second Season

Netflix releases a full trailer giving us a window into Bloodline season two

Bloodline was far from a perfect show. Its tone and pacing ebbed and flowed as much as the Key West tide of its central locale. But it finished strong as Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Sissy Spacek, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz turned in great work. And as soon as it was over I didn’t want to spend another single minute with this darkly twisted family.

Apparently, no one at Netflix listened to my inner cries. Bloodline season two will debut on Netflix at the end of May. Judging from the new trailer, the season seems to be something of a companion piece, working to flesh out the original story rather than striking out anew. The Rayburn siblings continue to struggle with their season one-ending actions as their mother (Spacek) wrestles with being kept in the dark.

It’s probably a good sign that season two will be only 10 episodes as season one felt a little padded to reach the initial 13-episode season. Here’s hoping the writers have enough material to fill the 10 episode order.

Bloodline season two streams on Netflix May 27.
