Netflix seems very excited about Daredevil‘s second season. The newly released second season trailer introduces not one but two legendary characters from the comic series. The trailer primarily features Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) as Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher. Its general theme invokes the differences between our blind anti-hero (still trying to be the good Catholic boy) and Punisher (deadly vigilante). Just as we’re about to meet the other major character, Elektra (Elodie Yung, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), the trailer abruptly ends. The second half will debut online February 25.
Daredevil season one was nominated for three Creative Arts Emmy Awards. It also received a Screen Actors Guild nomination for Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series. Bernthal’s Punisher is reportedly in the running for a series of his own. The character, however, will not be included in the planned Defenders series which combines the previously revealed Netflix Marvel characters of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Neither Luke Cage or Iron Fist’s individual series have received premiere dates.
Daredevil‘s second season premieres on Netflix March 18.
