Here are the nominations for the major categories at the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards as announced by Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) and Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance). HBO’s Game of Thrones leads the nominees with 24 nominations following by American Horror Story: Freak Show with 19 nominations. Mad Men, House of Cards, and Transparent each received 11 nominations. HBO actually lead the entire field with a whopping 126 nominations. The biggest surprise seen by most was the lack of love for FOX’s Empire.

Well I guess I was wrong about The Affair…
ME TOO. HORRIBLY WRONG. That’s such bullshit. Whatever. It’s still a great show.
Also my humble interpretation is that leading with the highest number of nominations plus having both Directing/Writing nominations (something no other contender has) makes Game of Thrones the de facto front runner now.
I’d like to think that’s possible, and the nominations are certainly there to support it. It’s weird Mad Men wasn’t nominated for directing. I’ve never really been on the “Mad Men has to win for its final season” bandwagon, but I don’t know that this is the year the Academy embraces GOT. What’s even more interesting is a complete lack of Writing/Directing nominations for Modern Family. Is it done this year? Will Silicon Valley win out?
Really sad The Missing got no love. My favourite tv drama for some times, and it took me several days just to got over the last episode.
I haven’t seen it. I’ll have to check it out eventually.
