‘Simpsons’ Wins Top TV Prize at Annie Awards; Disney TV Dominates

The Annie Awards presented their 42nd annual awards Saturday night in a ceremony that honored the best in both TV and film animation. FOX’s The Simpsons won only one award, but it was in the top television category of Best General Audience Animated TV/Broadcast Program – an event made even more remarkable given that the series was recently ignored in a similar category at the Emmys last fall.

The big winner on the TV side was Disney Television Animation, winning 9 awards for its various TV work including Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder, and its updated series of Mickey Mouse shorts.
