‘The Gilded Age:’ Gold Standard or Imposter Syndrome?

This week, the Water Cooler Gang visits HBO’s newest drama The Gilded Age. Starring Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Christine Baranski, and many, many more, the Julian Fellowes drama envelops viewers in the historic Gilded Age period where new monied families struck out against the old money social mores. Is this a worthy successor to Fellowes’ Downton Abbey? Or does the series collapse under the weight of its lofty ambitions? Plus, is this series a competitor to Succession or Squid Game at the 2022 Emmys?

We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
