TV News: Dickens cast in ‘Walking Dead’ spinoff, more

In Development

Untitled Walking Dead spinoff. Kim Dickens (Deadwood, Gone Girl) has been cast as the female lead in AMC’s Los Angeles-set spinoff of its hit Walking Dead code named Cobalt (Ya’ll here that? We usin’ code names!). She’ll play guidance counselor Nancy Tomkins, a single mother of two who joins up (romantically and as a team) with divorced school teacher Sean Cabrera to be played by previously reported Cliff Curtis (Gang Related). (Deadline)

Continuing Series

Hawaii Five-O. I once predicted we’d never see or hear from Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips sensation Barkhad Abdi again once they turned the lights out on last year’s Oscar ceremony… but I was wrong. He’ll be guesting as an internationally wanted Congolese warlord in the 15th episode of the CBS show. (EW)

America This Morning/World News Now. In what amounts to a rearranging of deck chairs on the sinking ship that is broadcast news, one-time BET, CNN and MSNBC anchor T.J. Holmes is moving over to ABC news where he’ll co-anchor their middle-of-the-night and ass-crack-of-dawn news broadcasts. Rest easy, America! The information pipeline is in handsome hands! (Wrap)
