Peter Bart – Born to Blog

Variety’s Big Cheese, Peter Bart has decided that, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. He has a blog. Actually, I find it a refreshing read myself. Maybe I should be all pissy about it since Bart has long criticized the whole blog situation but he’s naturally suited to the medium, unlike many journos who try to merge into it. Maybe that’s because Bart, like Ebert, has always had a conversational tone to his writing.¬† Either way, I found his write-up about Sex and the City to be a welcome change from the usual icky discourse on certain other male-driven sites which shall remain nameless. He does refer to Carina Chocano and Manohla Dargis as being “shrill” in their contradictory opinions (was anyone surprised by Dargis’ write-up of the film?) but look, the guy was born to blog.

My only complaint? Where’s the RSS?
