Nothing like a $42 million opening to jump start a production. MTV has the news that Paramount plans to have Zac Efron back on the dance floor in a matter of months.
They’re hoping to get Efron and director Kenny Ortega (another factor in the success of “HSM 3”) working by spring. They’ve brought in Peter Sollett, director of “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” to rewrite Jon Hartmere’s script, and hired musical movie veterans Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to come aboard as producers. They’re sparing no expense with this one.
‚ÄúFootloose‚Äù is aiming for an adult and older teen demo, though I suspect they‚Äôll have a hard time with those of us who still remember the original… It won‚Äôt be a pure remake, as Paramount plans to update it, and has commissioned new songs to be written.
Zac’s connection to Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon just got a lot easier. Another photo of Zac after the jump because, well… you’ll see.
