Frozen River took the top prize at the Stockholm Film Fest on Sunday, Variety reports. They describe the fest as one that specializes in up and coming filmmakers. More from Variety:
Brit Steve McQueen won the debut director prize for “Hunger,” about a hunger strike in Northern Ireland. Michael Fassbender also nabbed the actor honor for his role in the pic. Swedish film “Involuntary,” helmed by Ruben Ostlund, won screenplay honors for Erik Hemmendorff and Ostlund, and the audience award. Prize for actress went to Zuzana Bydzovska for her role in Bohdan Slama’s Czech-German-French co-production “Country Teacher,” which also won Divis Marek the award for cinematography.
