Vote with your hearts. That’s what we asked you to do in our final poll of the 2008 Oscar Season — instead of trying to predict what WTFWAMPASD? And you know what? As the results poured in, and data piled up, the numbers did a crazy thing — they began to sync up with the Big Bad Chart and The Sultans Chart, and every other major predictive instrument we look to for guidance. And here’s my theory: As much as we like to deride the Academy and groan at their choices, they’re really just 5800 people a lot like us. (Not even all that much prettier than us.)
Because it’s clear when we ask you to vote with your heart, it’s the same thing Sasha always tells us that AMPAS members do. Alone at the desk with their Oscar ballots and a pen. Vote with our hearts and even if our personal favorites don’t prevail, we can find solace knowing we did everything we could to show support.
Herewith, after the cut, part of the final Oscar charts, with all the internal numbers on display. For the categories I haven’t had time to compile, you can return to the original polls and click on “show results” — while we count the minutes for AMPAS to show us theirs.
