Reuters says, “Universal Pictures is developing the feature, with Justin Haythe, writer of Revolutionary Road, penning the script. Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, writer-director of the Pusher trilogy of gritty thrillers, is in negotiations to direct the project, titled Jekyll.”
Universal has another Jekyll-Hyde project in development with Guillermo del Toro, but The Hobbit is keeping del Toro busy for the next few years. It’s expected del Toro’s take will keep closer to the Gothic mood of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s original. Plot details of the Reeves version aren’t being revealed, but I get the feeling it’s a contemporary update.
Scanning through Google image search to see if I could find a pair of angles that bring out the bright side and dark side of Keanu Reeves, it’s hard to find a shot where he’s not always wearing the same expression. In fact, if anything, clean-cut Keanu looks meaner than scruffy Keanu. If neither photo seems sinister enough for Mr Hyde, how about this one
