Terminator: Abomination?

Not even sci-fi-optimist Roger Ebert could fake an orgasm over this one: “It gives you all the pleasure of a video game without the bother of having to play it.”

Stephanie Zacharek, Salon: “Terminator Salvation has no brains and no soul; it’s just a mass of stiff, creaking metal joints. Clearly, the machines have won.”

Mick LaSalle, SF Chronicle: “Let’s end with a word about the action itself: It isn’t really action. It’s commotion. It can’t be action if nothing happens, and nothing can happen because the commotion doesn’t advance the story.”

Does anybody want to talk about Terminator, or is the topic too depressing? Mourn the absence of James Cameron here, and maybe RRA can be our grief counselor. These three quotes are from the three worst reviews, so I know I’m dealing from the bottom of the deck. If you’ve seen Terminator: Salvation and think it’s better than the critics say, let’s hear some other opinions.
