The Hurt Locker opened in 4 theaters on June 26th, and expanded to 9 screens nationwide on July 3rd. If that rollout is a liittle too suspenseful for you — if you live someplace where “limited release” means “you’ll be seeing this on DVD” — then here’s a chance for you to see what all the excitement is about. If you’re lucky enough to live someplace where The Hurt Locker is already showing, or likely to open in a few weeks, obviously there’s a better way to watch this opening sequence than on your laptop screen. On the other hand, it’s an intro that easily stands up to repeat viewings, and it won’t lose its eventual theatrical impact if you’re too curious to wait.
[UPDATE: For whatever reason, the 8-minute clip has vanished from trailer addict, and thus from every site like AD that had it embedded it. Until I find another source (which may be never) the video has been replaced with a 1:15-minute clip from the end of the 8-minute one.]
