Nikki Finke dug up this funny video — one thing I never expected to happen during Oscars 2009 was that our readers would be so divided on Sandra V. Meryl. Meryl Streep has one lead Oscar and one supporting. In that sense, she is way, way, WAY overdue for another Oscar. But unlike Kate Winslet, she can’t really come out and say she would like to finally win, because, as she’s always said, she feels lucky to be working at all. Sandra, likewise, is playing up her buzz with grace and humility, I think. The two of them have Gabby Sidibe and Carey Mulligan to contend with as well. The fifth slot seems open to several names, but Emily Blunt is really coming up on the outside. There is Helen Mirren…it’s quite a year for women. Either way you slice it, there is no denying Sandra Bullock’s year.
