JustJared has pics from V Mag where Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga are photographed – Farmiga rather uniquely. In the article, Kendrick says:
“It’s incredibly rare to find a role that’s this juicy written for a young woman,” the 24-year-old actress said. “For the most part, girls my age in movies exist to fall in love with a guy who’s on a journey and she’s just sort of something that happens along the way. “Here I get to have my own journey,” she added.
It’s true that the women in Up in the Air are the most interesting characters. Clooney’s character seems to learn more about life from them than they learn from him. Both female characters in the film, I think, are characters who have been traditionally male roles which are flipped into female roles. It’s an interesting flip-flop, and puts Clooney in a position a female character from the 1970s might have been in – an Erica Jong-esque flight of fancy that is, ultimately, a wake-up call.¬† The Kendrick character kind of reminded me of Demi Moore in A Few Good Men.
