Madonna Wants to Direct

Vera Farmiga was talking up the potential Madonna project about Wallis Simpson called W.E.. This is slightly distressing, since the Wallis Simpson story is a great one, worthy of a great director. Having just gone down the rabbit hole on Simpson myself I can see why someone would want to tell this odd story. Simpson was an American, as was Madge when she married Guy Ritchie. Simpson was a trouble maker in a way, very liberated and very much into fashion.

Can’t Madonna just produce it? Anyway, it could be really magnificent with Vera Farmiga as the enigmatic Simpson who becomes the woman King Edward VIII abdicates the throne for. Simpson was a very complex woman. It turned out that her private letters revealed she had been having an affair with a whole other man besides the man who would be King.
