@onthecroisette once again brought this very cool link – a countdown to the announcement of the Directors Fortnight at Cannes.
In other Cannes news, it looks like Oliver Assayas’ five hour film Carlos will be screening out of competition. As Jeff Wells says, that movie plus a lot of press stuff around it, could kill one whole day at Cannes. But it is one of the films with heat so people will want to see it, no doubt. ¬†Pic is described on this site as a story about a “leftist terrorist mercenary From 1970 to 1994 the date of his arrest. ¬†It was seen in the media worldwide, killing police officers, weapons traffickers, hostage taking of Ministers, bossa for several clients, including Libya, Palestine, Syria.”
It sounds nothing short of awesome and a good reason to kill a whole day, I’d think.
Also, just found out that Universal will be screening Robin Hood here in LA ahead of the Cannes Film Fest by about a week. Not sure I will be able to attend that screening, and not sure I’ll be able to get into the Cannes screening. I will see it one way or another.
