We first visited Taylor Hackford’s Love Ranch in October 2008. Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci star as Joe and Sally Conforte, proprietors of the Mustang Ranch, where prizefighter Oscar Bonavena was gunned down over a suspected fling with Mustang madam Sally. Sticky lawsuits over the financing have kept the film handcuffed to head board, but the months of foreclosure foreplay are over and HR says the Love Ranch will open in limited release this summer.
Hackford, Mirren and Pesci are expected to do promotional work for the film, which was inspired by the real-life story of Joe and Sally Conforte, who in 1971 opened Mustang Ranch, the first legalized house of prostitution in Nevada.
The pic is based on an article that appeared in New York Magazine written by Mark Jacobson, who also wrote the screenplay.
Taylor Hackford and wife Helen Mirren Mirren talk about the Love Ranch with the two Peters on AMC’s now defunct Sunday Morning Shootout after the cut.
