The Weekly Blend has today’s buzz kill:
At this weeks National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, Mad Men creator and writer, Matt Weiner announced he would not go past 6 seasons with the popular AMC series.
While fielding questions about how he is able to create great content year after year for the series, Weiner said that he could not see writing or even continuing the series past a 6th season…
Gotta say, this makes good sense. For a series so closely associated with the 1960s, it’s hard to imagine following Mad Men into the disco era. The storyline is already leap-frogging through the decade, so time is already running out before the beatniks collide with the Age of Aquarius. Seeing the end in sight might help tighten the focus of the show, and reminds us to enjoy the loss of innocence while it lasts.
