IndiaTimes tells us Martin Scorsese has been busy wooing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Cannes, with an eye to feature her in his next film. Question is, what film? William Monahan was to rewrite a script for The Long Play (based on an idea by Mick Jagger), involving two friends in the music business over the course of 40 years, from the days of R&B to hip-hip. Then there’s I Heard You Paint Houses, the true story of a mob hitman reportedly being developed as a two-movie epic. Scorsese has remakes in development for Haneke’s Cache and Kurosawa’s High and Low. Might be suitable roles in any of these, or something else altogether?
The Princess of Cannes (that’s what the press calls Aishwarya Rai Bachchan there) has caught the attention of legendary Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese big time at the French Riviera. A source at the film festival said that Scorsese has been constantly showering attention on the beautiful Mrs Bachchan, and with reason. He, apparently, wants to cast her in his next film. The source added, “The two have had discussions before, the meeting in Cannes gave them just the excuse to bond over films, India and Bollywood.”
…Coming Sunday at a Cannes dinner in honour of Scorsese, Ash is a special invitee. The Cannes source reported, ‚ÄúScorsese has admired Aishwarya‚Äôs work from the time he saw her in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‚Äôs Devdas . He has expressed a keen desire to cast her in his next film, an offer that she is inclined to accept.‚Äù
