Predicting Tonight’s Cannes Awards

Erik Anderson at ICS has laid out his predictions. Not for nothing, Cedric (@onthecroisette) has been reporting on who is still in town and who isn’t, as a way of trying to figure whom was asked to stay for the awards ceremony). ¬†So far, Juliette Binoche has been asked to stay (she can only win for Best Actress for Copie Conforme – Lesley Manville will have been robbed). ¬†The Chadian director. ¬†Javier Bardem has “left the building.”

Palme d’Or:¬†Biutiful
Grand Prix du Jury: Another Year
Jury Prize: Of Gods and Men
Best Director: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Uncle Boomee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
Best Actor: Javier Bardem, Biutiful
Best Actress: Yun Junghee, Poetry
Screenplay: Certified Copy
Special Jury Prize: To the Ensemble Cast of Of Men and Gods

This would be a great way to end it. ¬†I can’t argue with these predictions at all. ¬†Screenplay, though, should go to Mike Leigh for Another Year.
