Vulture says David Fincher likes the unique visage of South African rapper Yo-Landi Vi$$er as a possible template for Lisbeth Salander in his upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There are several low-rent clips of youtube sensation Die Antwoord, but it’s hard to find one focusing on Vi$$er since her partner Ninja is more aggressively in your face with that retread Ali G schtick.
Sources tell Vulture that Fincher has been raving that the breakout South African rap group’s bleached-blonde, mullet-sporting Yo-Landi Vi$$er is exactly who he wants his Salander to look and act like.
Less clear is whether Fincher specifically hopes to get Vi$$er herself for his Columbia film’s Salander role, or merely is holding her up as his ideal meme girl. Insiders at William Morris Endeavor ‚Äî which reps Die Antwoord, now on a world tour ‚Äî caution that “while we know Fincher really likes her, it’s not clear if that role is real yet.”
This is probably a whole lot of nothing but at least it’s not boring. Or wait, yes it is. Sorry, way too baby-bjork cartoonish for me.
