USA Today features the trailer for Rob Reiner’s middle school romance, Flipped.
Everyone fondly remembers their first love. At least that is what Rob Reiner is counting on with Flipped, a romantic comedy about the bumpy relationship of a pair of eighth-graders that takes place between 1957 and 1963. “It feels a lot like Stand by Me,” he says, referring to his nostalgic 1986 reverie on ’50s boyhood. “It has the same tone.”
…Reiner, who co-wrote the script, moved the contemporary tale into the past during his own coming of age. “Today feels less innocent, and I didn’t want it to be about texting. I wanted it to be pure and simple while focusing on feelings.”
Flipped opens wide on August 27th following a couple of weeks in limited release.
