Brighton Rock, poster parallels

Thanks to Hunter for noting the poster for Rowan Joffe’s remake of Graham Greene’s 1947 noir classic, released in the US as Young Scarface. Sam Riley takes on the role of Pinkie Brown (originated by Richard Attenborough) a small-town hooligan who goes nutters after he marries a naive waitress to keep her from wrecking his alibi for a murder rap. Helen Mirren and John Hurt star as kindly couple who come ’round sticking their noses in. The Playlist spots the ultraviolent parallel to another knife-wielding horrowshow after the cut.
