The Social Network has our attention for two reasons and two reasons only: David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin. And there is a thin line between greatness and pointlessness, or “stupid and … clever.” I would argue that YouTube has been far more influential than Facebook. Facebook is more surreal. This parody video did remind me of a few things. The first is that I had to check my interest in the Social Network — what was so fascinating about that story? Is it really just because the guys were going to Harvard? Also, YouTube has created a culture of public mockery and commentary that occasionally borders on true genius.
