Despite the embargo issued at the time of today’s screening of Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter in Toronto, the Tweets were flying nonetheless. I only read two and they sounded exactly alike (is there a secret club I don’t know about?) and they were negative. More reactions were culled from people willing to talk as anonymous sources over at InContention.com. The embargo will be lifted soon enough and people can share their own impressions of the film.
Generally speaking, there is still a disconnect between the majority of those who write about film online and Oscar. There is an age difference and a cultural difference. There is some crossover here or there but overall, the festival vibe is very different. Something to keep in mind.
What does it mean? Several people didn’t like the film and/or did not find deeper meaning, etc. As I’ve said ad nauseum, this is always the frustrating part of awards season; one wishes to see the film and judge for oneself, which I plan to do.¬† You can find the tweets about the film by searching for #hereafter on Twitter.com.
In other Twitter/TIFF news, people continue to be blown away by Danny Boyles 127 Hours.
