The new Pixar movie — the one that isn’t a sequel — is coming in 2012. ¬†It’s about a girl (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) and it’s directed by a Brenda Chapman. ¬†Brave has a Facebook page and they just released a little bitty bit of art for it. ¬†It immediately reminded me of “Brave Clarice. ¬†You will let me know when those lambs stop screaming.” But that’s just me. ¬†I can’t wait for this movie, though.
Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right.
Pixar’s best movies have all centered around male characters, with great supporting female characters. ¬†I shall rank my top five thusly:
1. Wall-E –>supporter/love interest Eve
2. Ratatouille –>supporter/love interest Colette
3.¬†Finding Nemo –>supporter Dorrie
4. Toy Story series –>supporter several – Jessie, Barbie, etc.
5. ¬†The Incredibles –>kind of a whole family, doesn’t count
