How can any fan of John Carpenter’s classic not want to see if someone’s got the juice to riff on perfection? Before punching the auto-backlash button asking, “Why do we need a remake?!”, please remember the equally automatic argument: The 1982 version was already a remake of Howard Hawks’ 1951 expedition into depths of Cold War paranoia. Technically this is a prequel, not a remake. Same Shit, Different Day, maybe. Same Thing, Different Camp, absolutely.
