You never know what’s true in gossip stories — if the legit press can get things wrong and then correct them with important stories you can imagine what kind of mishegoss goes on in the gossip press. Either which way, if this story is true, that Kristen Stewart is too “embarrassed” to walk the red carpet for On the Road preem in London, well, homegirl needs a little propping up.
First, what you do in your private life is NO ONE’S FUCKING BUSINESS. Got that? Anyone who thinks they have a “right” to know what goes on in your private life needs an immediate wake-up call. You are a human being and you have a right to do what you please with your body, your mind, your heart and your soul. Hold your head high, do your job, do not give the tabloids the power over your. They are like rabid dogs — you have to show them that you are unafraid.
Second, you weren’t the one who took vows “before God” to someone else. You were involved, sure, okay, fine. But you didn’t commit any sort of sin. What happened is between you and your boyfriend. That the public is shaming YOU rather than the much older man (who should have, frankly, known better) is typical rampant misogyny. Hold your head high. Elizabeth Taylor got through many a scandal and so can you.
Third, everybody makes mistakes. Most of us don’t have paparazzi following us, getting “tips” about our “behavior” and taking pictures as evidence. Why? To right the injustices you’ve wreaked upon society? To expose you as the harlot that you are? To set a good example for other young women that they should stay away from married men? No. They did it for cold, hard cash. They did it because they could. And the public played right along. You are responsible for your mistakes. You are not required to explain them to the public at large. It is NO ONE’S FUCKING BUSINESS. So hold your head high.
Fourth, On the Road is something to be proud of. Your work is something to be proud of. Who you are is something to celebrate. Your youth will evaporate faster than you can say Renesmee. You will not go down as the harlot, the cheater, the slut. Don’t buy into the hype. Don’t believe the illusion that any of this really matters beyond what is going on in YOUR life between you and those you love.
As Bill Condon recently said in a statement:
“Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”
That’s all.
p.s. If it turns out that that creepy director ends his marriage and wants to “have a relationship” with you? The answer to that question is not “but I love him.” It’s “get off my lawn.” You’re just going to have to trust me on this one.
