Press release:
The Denver Film Critics Society honored “12 Years a Slave,” the harrowing true story of a free black man sold into slavery, with more nominations than any other 2013 film.
“Slave” earned seven nominations from the Colo.-based group, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor. “American Hustle” and “Gravity” scored six nominations each, while “Captain Phillips” received five nominations.
DFCS will announce the winners January 13.
One important note: The directors decided not to include films that won’t be officially open in Denver until the new year. We felt that was the proper way to respect our specific market.
