Los Angeles – As the Writers Guild of America, West ramps up toward its annual celebration of outstanding writing this weekend, the Guild is inviting the general public – fans and followers alike – to participate in the WGAW’s first-ever “Mighty Pen” competition, starting today through this Friday, January 31, via Twitter.
One winner will be named during the WGAW’s West Coast awards program, which will be streamed live on latimes.com/wga this Saturday, February 1, from the JW Marriott Hotel at L.A. LIVE in downtown L.A. Pre-show coverage begins at 5:00 p.m., followed at 5:30 p.m. by “Meet the Writers,” featuring interviews with several of this year’s WGA nominees. The awards presentation starts at 6:00 p.m.
To enter the Guild’s “Mighty Pen” competition, participants are asked to finish the sentence, “The secret to great writing is…” and include the hashtag #mightypen in their Tweet posted via Twitter.
Five finalists will be announced during the show. Online viewers will be able vote on the five #mightypen Tweets while the program is in progress. Voting will take place in an online poll during the live stream at latimes.com/wga. The entrant who receives the most votes will be announced during the show, earning the WGAW’s first-ever Mighty Pen commendation.
