I think it’s awful Melissa Mcbride didn’t get nominated for The Walking Dead. But for the most part I like the nominations. I’m always happy when Idris Elba gets a nomination. He is just so good.
I’m sure the Normal Heart whatever that movie is called is going to win big time.
Not nominating “The Americans” for best drama and its actors (except Martindale) is a travesty.
Thrilled with the true detective noms but really upset orphan black got nothing!
The problem with TV right now is that there’s so much good shit on the air that the voters can’t keep up with any new shows. That’s why old shows get re-upped every year. You may get a stray nomination for The Americans here and there but nothing substantial, same goes for Orphan Black. I’m pretty sure not all of the thousands and thousands of voters have enough time to watch everything.
The Good Wife, Orphan Black, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Girls, The Americans, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Mindy Project, Parks and Recreation, Rectify, Masters of Sex, Bates Motel, Hannibal, The Wrong Mans, Broadchurch, The Killing, The Returned, Ray Donovan, Shameless, Episodes, Boardwalk Empire, Scandal and (whether you like it or not) Homeland, New Girl, The Walking Dead and How I Met Your Mother. Those shows weren’t listed in best comedy or best drama series. So those 26 shows PLUS the shows that were nominated for the top prize are a lot of things to comb through.

Emmy nominations have some new blood and it’s great! Seeing Silicon Valley and Orange is the New Black both get Best Comedy noms is awesome. Those plus VEEP and Modern Family and you have four fantastic shows that everyone should watch. The love for House of Cards, True Detective, AHS: Coven, and Fargo is also awesome. Much deserved noms for all four main actors of Fargo.
Only TWO SHOWS out of the Best Drama and Best Comedy nominations for the Emmy’s are on ‘big four’ networks of ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, both comedies (Modern Family and Big Bang Therory). That’s a pretty telling statistic. All the good shows are found on basic/premium cable and their kicking network tv’s ass.

Oh please. Modern Family is far and away one of the BEST FIVE OR SIX comedies out there and has been for every year it’s been on the air. Some may thing Mindy Project is more funny, etc but there flat out aren’t six better comedies than Modern Family. I think Big Bang Theory is the stupidest show in the past ten years but it’s popular, you can’t deny that.
IMO these awards are and will continue to be a sham until they nominate Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black.

Shark Tank was nominated for reality series. They’ve split them into two categories beginning this year (Structured and Unstructured).

The fix is in. Every year Modern Family is nom’d, I stopped watching about 2 seasons ago because it’s so predictable. There are better comedies, the Mindy Project for example is very good. It seems the Emmy panel — and this has been discussed before — keep nom’ing the same-o shows. Claire Danes again. Julianne again. Come – on surely there are others who have done just as good a job? Maybe their producers/networks don’t push their shows as hard.
I was sure that Bellamy of Scandal would get a nom; or the woman who plays Sally the vice president would get a nom for Scandal. Kerry Underwood is overly dramatic and becoming quite boring in that Scandal role and the story plotlines don’t help.
And the Shark Tank wasn’t nom’d for best reality show? I’m outta here.
So ModernFamily keeps losing one supporting actor nominee a year, my bet is next year Jesse Tyler Feegusons the last man standing
Whoah….no The Good Wife in Best Drama ? Aaaaaaand I’m suddenly thinking I’ll sit this Emmy season out. (translation : I won’t. I just tend to make unrealistic and dramatic statements when I’m THIS disappointed.)

This Downton Abbey nomination… The day will come when broadcast TV will refuse to air the Emmys. Apparently any season from this british soap opera will get nominated until the very end.
