A week ago or so I was invited to see some extended footage from Disney’s Big Hero Six. I was immediately taken by the story, which takes its cue from the Marvel comic of the same name. Here, Hero is a Japanese kid living in San Fransokyo (a dazzling, dense animated wonderland) as a super genius. He builds a robot to become the ultimate superhero. The gang is a diverse bunch with badass girls along with boys. Here is a clip.

A question… why my much beloved “Snowpiercer” is still up in the contenders list for two cathegories (richly deserved) despite the more than limited b.o. success and popularity and a wildly successful film on all levels as “The Lego Movie” ain’t counted as contender for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature?

Okay, I’m going to say it. I find some of these 2 hr big budget “cartoons” no more no better than a big screen Saturday morning TV cartoon show.
The studios are moving the kids away from the TV screen into the big stadium theaters and dragging their parents with them 🙂 by offering these long-version cartoons. JustIMO.
