Unquestionably imagine that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to
be on the internet the easiest factor to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while folks think about concerns that they plainly don’t realize about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out
the whole thing without having side-effects , other folks can take a
signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
No Princess Kaguya for Best Animated Feature. That makes me sad. 🙁
So it is.
Weird to give Into the Woods a Best Ensemble nomination but no acting nomination? Where’s Meryl? Oh, well it’ll fare well at the Golden Globes and SAG. I notice Foxcatcher is not getting huge nominations as many thought it would.
Wild Tales is amazing!
Really like the look of the Best Actor – let’s just stay with that, shall we?
No Cotillard? None of Desplat’s 4 (FOUR) scores were worth a nod?
Hurray for Serkis, though.
and Andy Serkis!!!!
YAY for Chazelle’s director nod, Wild Tales, Ethan Hawke, Tilda Swinton!
website concept: like metacritic, except every week, all year long, the only reviews that get factored into the aggregate are reviews by the critics who live in the Washington DC Area.
This is an absolutely fantastic list of nominees. I suspect it will be the most satisfying one I read all season. Every category has at least one inclusion that makes me smile in recognition. Under The Skin for Score! Snowpiercer for Production Design! Yes!
I also think Oscar Isaac is a strong challenger for the #5 slot over Steve Carell. The other four seem pretty locked in.
This could very well be our Directors’ final five. Yes, I do think Damien Chazelle has a strong shot, as I think Whiplash will only grow in popularity as more people see it.
I find it interesting that Selma got into some major categories (picture, director, actor), but screenplay wasn’t one of them. Any comments from those who’ve seen it?
Great for Selma. A lot of them did not get a chance to see it so it must have left a lasting impression on the ones who did.
Interesting that with all the love that Whiplash is getting that nobody has found room to recognize its lead talent Miles Teller.
Second group to nominate Tilda and snub Meryl.
First Golden Satellites (I know, no one cares), now the DC critics. I bit more creditable association.
I read in a couple of websites, including HITFIX, that Meryl was Patricia Arquette’s only rival for the win.
I don’t really buy that the academy is going to give Meryl another Supporting Oscar. If they are going to give her a fourth one,
it will be as Leading.
YES for Under The Skin! YES for Snowpiercer! Academy voters, take notice.
Snowpiercer and The Grand Budapest Hotel are showing resilience with the critics’ groups. Reassuring to see them keep alive films released earlier in the year. Also very glad to see nominations here for Gone Girl and Selma, and I bet Sasha will be equally glad about that.
It’ll be interesting to see how Into the Woods fares as the season progresses and more people get chances to see it – it crops up here, but not in major categories. A little disappointed to note The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything ticking off their expected entries in those categories – do either of those films deserve Best Adapted Screenplay nominations?!
Hooray for Under the Skin!
Under The Skin!! *Praying* that some Academy Members see these critics noms and AT LEAST consider that genius film in all the tech, sound, music categories, as well as Best Actress, obviously.
Snowpiercer popping up again! I wonder if this is a sign of things to come, or just some one-offs.
I hope to see Gone Girl begin winning some Adapted awards – likely the only trophy it will walk away with Oscar night.
OT – but I just learned Luise Rainer is still alive? Wow!
another year and they are trying to push the andy serkis train. is it really going to happen this time because he was excellent both times, just saying. wont get my hopes up though. tilda on the other hand is steamrollin on that snowpiercer train..love it. lets keep it going please. didnt see under the skin but scarlet usually produces good work so its good to see her get some recognition.
Scarlett! Tilda!
