This looks pretty great all the way around, I have to admit. Someone seems to have finally put Matt Damon’s sense of humor to good use. Can it possibly be as good as its trailer? Written by the hard working Drew Goddard whose list of credits includes Alias and Lost, among other things, seems to have the thing well under hand here. The film has a release date of October 2, which you dear readers should recognize as the Sweet Spot when it comes to releasing “Oscar movies.”

Despite the many films in release this year, there are just a small handful that are actually good movies. Of...

I’m so excited for this movie! The book was awesome, and the movie looks like it will be too.
More importantly, The Witch trailer came out today.
A24 is evil for making us wait until 2016 to see it.
Yet another great trailer for The Martian. I’ve been sold on seeing this since I first heard this was going to be a film. Right now it’s 4th on my list of most anticipated of 2015.
1. The Revenant – Wide in January
2. The Walk – Wide on October 9
3. The Hateful Eight – Wide on January 8
4. The Martian – Wide on October 2
5. Steve Jobs – Wide on October 9
Oh, that’s right he was nominated for Black Hawk Down, wasn’t he?
Darkhorse Best Director winner if Scott didn’t pee down his leg on this one. He’s got two nominations and directed a BP winner, so he’s got the “old master whose time is due” on his side.
I’ve disliked three of the last four Ridley Scott movies (Prometheus being the exception), but I have to say that this looks…actually pretty good! My expectations won’t be too high, but I hope Scott managed to make something at least entertaining. Damon looks great here too.
Way too sold on this. Skipping the trailer. 🙂
I’m going to so angry if this isn’t good. After The Counselor and Exodus, I need Scott to return to form. I’ve heard good things about the novel, and the trailers have been excellent.
I’m just so afraid this will either be crap, like the two films I mentioned, or well-made but plagued by fundamental issues, like Prometheus. I really need this to be as good or better than Interstellar.
I am a touch concerned that, with so many big names in the cast, some of them won’t have much to do (particularly Kristen Wiig, who’s so far done nothing in these trailers but look worried). But…what a cast, right?
I assume praying for this not to suck would be sacrilege, so I’ll just hope furiously. But hope I will.
Why is this trailer three minutes long?! …Hollywood, NO!
