(Press Release, September 12, 2015) – In the midst of a highly competitive film marketplace at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, EuropaCorp has partnered with FilmNation Entertainment to produce the political thriller Miss Sloane which will be directed by Academy Award® nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love), from a screenplay written by Jonathan Perera. The film will star two time Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) in the eponymous leading role and production is slated to begin in March 2016. Ben Browning will produce for FilmNation Entertainment and Patrick Chu will be the executive producer. EuropaCorp will fully finance the film and handle worldwide distribution.
Miss Sloane tells the story of a powerful lobbyist (Chastain) who sacrifices her career on Federal Hill in order to successfully pass an amendment enforcing stricter gun control laws.
“The film’s subject matter of gun control is an incredibly important issue in today’s world,” said EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert. “John Madden and Jessica Chastain bring with them such a high level of artistry, making Miss Sloane a perfect addition to the EuropaCorp slate.”
“We at FilmNation Entertainment are excited to be partnering with EuropaCorp,” said Glen Basner CEO FilmNation Entertainment. “And we are thrilled to see John Madden and Jessica Chastain working together again on what we know will be a highly entertaining and thought provoking film.”
