Woody Allen’s Cafe Society will mark the filmmaker’s return to the Cannes Film Festival. Set in 1930’s Hollywood, Cafe Society stars Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg stars as a young couple hoping to work in the film industry but ends up falling in love and getting swept up in the vibrant cafe society that defined the spirit of the age. The film will play in an out of competition slot on opening night on May 11.
Steve Carell, Blake Lively and Parker Posey also appear in the film. This will be the third time Allen has had films presented on opening night; Hollywood Ending in 2002 and Midnight in Paris in 2011 . As previously reported, Jodie Foster’s Money Monster starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts will also screen at Cannes.
