Fox Searchlight has released a brand new trailer for Nate Parker’s Birth of a Nation. Based on a true story, Birth of a Nation is set against the antebellum South. Parker plays Nat Turner, a slave who turns preacher and leads an uprising.
The Birth of a Nation stars Parker who wrote and directed the film, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King and Penelope Ann Miller. Watch the new trailer as we hear Turner quote from Peter 2:18, “Submit yourselves to your master.” As the trailer plays on, we hear Turner’s voiceover, “The Lord has spoken to me, visions of what’s to come.” Andre Day’s Rise Up plays in the background as we see the rebellion begin. The trailer also gives us more of a glimpse at Elliot Davis’ cinematography as he captures the American South, and the brutality of slavery.
Hamilton actor, Lin-Manuel Miranda shared a photo with Parker after seeing the film saying the company was “Wrecked and Inspired” after seeing the film.
This is a company of actors WRECKED AND INSPIRED by @NateParker‘s brilliant The Birth Of A Nation.
