Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk To Receive Its World Premiere at NYFF

Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk is set to get its world premiere on October 14 at the New York Film Festival.  The film is based on Ben Fountain’s 2012 novel that tells the story of an Iraq veteran who is hailed as a war hero, but wrangling with disenchantment. The film joins an already incredible line up that includes; Ava DuVernay’s
The 13th, which will be the first ever documentary to open the festival. 20th Century Women starring Annette Benning and The Lost City of Z also feature in the main slate.

Earlier this year, Sony Pictures chairman Tim Roth said director Ang Lee was using ultra high rate film making for certain sequences that enable the audience to, “feel the contrast between the intensity of war and the rest of life, exactly as the young soldiers do.”  This innovative method was shot in 4K, native 3D at the ultra high rate of 120 frames-per-second.
In a statement, Kent Jones of the NYFF said, “We are used to seeing 3-D used to focus on spectacle. This is precisely the opposite. It’s all about the faces, the smallest emotional shifts.”
