I Am Not Negro joins OJ Made in America and 13th as one of the strongest documentaries on the black experience in America. Here is the trailer:
The film is directed by Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck. It will be released in theaters early February of next year. The documentary race is extremely competitive this year, with so many titles vying for just five spots. Really, the Academy ought to think about adjusting the number to match the number of films released any year but this year especially. That’s probably never going to happen but ten nominees instead of five would go a long way towards shining the light on these excellent films.
