Netflix unveiled its FYSEE space last night. FYSEE runs one month and highlights Netflix’s 2017 Emmy contenders including House of Cards .
Netflix launched its month-long Emmys FYSEE Space Sunday night in Beverly Hills with a kick-off party in an exceptional 24,000 square foot experiential space. The participatory exhibition space showcased installations from such shows as The Crown, House of Cards, Marvel’s Luke Cage, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Narcos, and Stranger Things.
The Crown experience showcased costumes and hats by Michele Clapton as well as showing the crown jewels worn on the show during Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Moving through the space, the House of Cards experience featured a real House of Cards as well as a preview of the outfits worn by Frank and Claire Underwood during the Season 5 premiere of the show.
Marvel’s Luke Cage walk through experience had a bubble wall that allowed you to give you superhuman strength, and by the end, you could lift a fridge. Yes, I tried it but needed to call on another superhero to help me. Maybe superhuman strength is not my superpower?
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt display showcased items from the show’s wardrobe. A rotating closet rail showed gowns and robes as well as shoes as worn on the show.
The one experience that got everyone talking and wanting to experience was the Stranger Things experience. Not only did it have “aliens” trying to break through walls, which truthfully was scary as well as a lot of fun, there were bikes for guests to sit on and take photos as a van flies towards you.
As this was the kick-off party, iconic DJ, Grandmaster Flash, whose story is featured in Netflix’s The Get Down, was on hand to get the party going. Members of the press, the Television Academy, and stars of the streaming service’s shows got down to tunes from The Beastie Boys, David Bowie, and the Jackson Five. Needless to say, the dance floor was lit.
