Team Awards Daily TV gives their final Comedy Emmy predictions in advance of Thursday’s nominations. What will repeat and what will break into the race?
Following yesterday’s Limited Series / TV Movie predictions, the Awards Daily TV team pulled together their Comedy Emmy® predictions. This time, the actresses gave the team the most grief. Sure, there are four consistent predictions in both categories, but the team filled those fifth and sixth slots with some truly (in some cases) courageous predictions. Aside from that, only two ADTV team members picked Modern Family to repeat. Is this the year their streak ends? Will Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ride a brilliant Lemonade parody and an outstanding Tituss Burgess performance to an overall series nomination?
One thing appears very certain, Team ADTV doesn’t consider the Television Academy very open to new and alternative comedies. Sure, Altanta gets in for multiple nominations. Yet, where are Fleabag? Catastrophe? Casual? Hell, where is Pop’s Schitt’s Creek? With this category in particular, the Television Academy appears set to embrace the familiar.
