Looking At the 2017 Main Title Design and Main Title Theme Emmy Categories

This week at the Cooler, we review the nominees for the 2017 Main Title Design and Main Title Theme Emmy® categories, two of our very favorites.

August marks the start of Emmy’s Phase 2 voting calendar. Phase 2 defines the window during which Television Academy members make their final choices for the 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards. So, this week at the Water Cooler, we start handicapping some of the lesser-covered races that are near and dear to our hearts. First up, the Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Main Title Theme Music categories have always been two of our favorites. We review each nominated series and predict which ones will resonate most with the Television Academy.

In our TV Tidbits segment, we take a look at this weekend’s Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards. The Handmaid’s Tale and Atlanta each received two wins. Will these wins help solidify their chances at the Emmys? Then, NBC announced at their TCA panel that Will & Grace would not only receive an extended order for its first season but also a second season. Let’s see what Joey and Megan say about that one. Finally, Megan caught up to Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Dunkirk. We talk about the World War II film and predict its bounty at the 2018 Academy Awards.

We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the television we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
