The Cooler gang looks at the 2017 Emmy® guest acting races and surveys the field for front runners and spoilers. Plus, our most anticipated fall films.
Today, Monday, August 14, marks the start of Emmy’s Phase 2 voting calendar. This is the final round of voting for the 2017 Emmy awards. Last week, we started handicapping some of the lesser-covered races with the Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Main Title Theme Music categories. Today, we’re looking at all of the guest acting races. We review each performance and try to predict which ones will take home Emmy gold during the Creative Arts ceremony on September 9 and 10. Is this #JusticeForBarb? Will Carrie Fisher take home an award posthumously? These are notoriously difficult to predict categories. Case in point, last year saw Peter Scolari win for his guest performance on HBO’s Girls when he wasn’t even originally nominated. His win only came after Peter MacNicol’s Veep performance was disqualified.
In our TV Tidbits segment, we revisit the American Crime Story: Katrina saga. After recent news from Anthony Hemingway that the series was in turmoil, Ryan Murphy announced some surprising specifics at a TCA panel. In Emmy news, we take a look at the unexpected nomination of Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones. Clarence posits that she’s a spoiler to actually win. Finally, we step into the world of film to each list our three most anticipated films of the fall movie season.
Be sure to visit Awards Daily TV all week for the latest in our Emmy For Your Consideration posts. We’ll provide interviews with nominees and advocate for our own personal choices as the Television Academy makes theirs. Plus, vote for the 2017 Coolie Awards! You’ll find the link our ADTV’s main page.
